cells Flashcards
Cell Nucleus
- controls cell activity (cell brain)
- contains the DNA

nuclear envelope
surrounds the nucleus with a doucle membrane and pores.

nuclear pore
. regulate the passage for proteins and RNA

nucleolus
structure inside the nucleus, where ribosomes are made.

chromatin
- inside of the nuclear envelope
- consists of DNA and forms chromosomes

smooth ER
- passageways for substance without ribosomes
- helps ship the proteins onto the golgi apparatus

rough ER
- passageway for substance with ribosomes on it
- site of protein synthesis

Ribosome
site of protein synthesis
makes proteins
golgi appartatus
Organelle that packages and distrubutes proteins around and out of the cell

transport vesicles
shipping of things into and out of the cell
mitochondria
- takes sugars and makes it into ATP
- where ATP synethsis occurs
- have a double membrane

plasma membrane / cell membrane
membrane transport ; moving things across the membrane
endocytosis
taking things into the cell
exocytosis
taking things out of the cell

phagocytosis
cellular eating

pinocytosis
cellular drinking

diffusion
from high concentration to low concentration

facilitated diffusion
protein channel that goes from high concentrain to low concentration

active transport
low concentration to high conentration
transported across a concentration gradiend
- need protein channel
- requires energy (ATP)

filtration
based on size and absorbtion
osmosis
movement of water from high concentration to low
diffusion of water thru a semipermable membrane based on solute concentration
solvent
liquid part of solution
solute
substance dissolved in solution
eletrolytes and non electroytes

hypertonic
more solute and less whater.
if high solute than theres low water
