Cells Flashcards
Are plant and animal cells prokaryotic or eukaryotic?
Eukaryotic
What are prokaryotic cells?
Bacterial cells
What are 2 differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells?
Prokaryotic cells are much smaller and there may be one or more small rings of DNA called plasmids.
What parts are found in an animal cell?
Nucleas, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria and ribosomes.
What parts are found in a plant cell?
Nucleas, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria, ribosomes, chloroplasts, vacuole and a cell wall.
What is the role of the nucleas?
Controls the cells activities/replicates DNA.
What happens in the cytoplasm?
Most chemical reactions take place into the cytoplasm
What is the job of the cell membrane?
Control’s what can enter and leave the cell.
What does the mitochondria do?
Releases energy by respiration.
What do ribosomes do?
Make proteins.
What do chloroplasts do?
Absorb light and carry out photosynthesis.
What is the vacuole filled with?
A cell sap
What is the cell wall made of and what does it do?
It is made out of cellulose and it strengthens the cell.
