Cell Types Flashcards
seen outside the body as coverings or linings of organs and cavities
Epithelial cells
Composed of blood, cartillage, bones
Connective tissue
Long cells that allows the body to move voluntarily or involuntarily
Muscle tissue
Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth are parts of what tissue?
Muscle tissue
Composed of nerve cells ‘neurons and glacels , transmitting electrical signs through the body
Nervous system
Give structural support to the plant, as plants are stationary
Plant tissues
Actively dividing cells that lead to the increase in length and thickness of a plant
Merismatic tissues
Growing tips of stems and roots and increases in length
Apical meristem
Cause the organ to increase in diameter and grows
Lateral meristem
Branch formation and growth, increase of internode
Intercalary meristem
Non dividing cells derived from meristematic tissues
Permanent tissues
Similar in origin; structure and function
Simple permanent tissues
Provides support to plants and also store food
Parenchyma
Gives tensile strength and compactly arranged
Collenchyma
Have hard and extremely thick secondary walls due to uniform distribution og lignin
Schlerenchyma
Helps in transportation of organic material, water, and mineral up and down the plants; called conducting and vascular tissue
Complex permanent tissue
Conveys water and dissolved minerals from the roots to the rest of the plant and provides physical support
Xylem
Conduct foods in leaves and other parts of the plant
Phloem
