Cell Transport Flashcards

1
Q

-It doesn’t require energy
-Molecules move from area of HIGH to LOW concentration
-Movements of ions and other atomic substances across cell number ones without the need of energy input.
-Naturally occurring phenomenon and does not require the cell to exert any of its energy to accomplish the movement.
-Movement of molecules down a concentration gradient in order to maintain equilibrium.

2
Q

A passive process which means no energy is used to make the molecules move, they have a natural kinetic or thermal energy
-Moves down the concentration gradient. Random movement of simple atoms or molecules from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration until they are a equally distributed.
+plasma membrane allow few types of molecules to enter/exit by simple diffusion

Q

-Doesn’t require energy
-uses transport proteins to move high to low concentration
-big molecules goes to cell
-Molecules will randomly move through the pores in channel proteins

e.g Glucose or amino acids moving from blood into cell
