Cell Structure Flashcards
What is protoplasm?
It is all the living parts of a cell.
What is cytoplasm?
It is the living material in a cell outside the nucleus.
What is chromatin?
Is the name given to chromosomes when they are elongated and not dividing.
What is the structure of a membrane?
Proteins, Phosphate head, Lipid, Pore
Where is DNA found in?
It is found in chromosomes or chromatin in the nucleus.
What is the function of mitochondria?
It provides energy through respiration
What is the function of ribosomes?
It makes protein synthesis
What is the function of a cell membrane?
It is selectively permeable
How did you examine plant and animal cells?
- Prepare and stain cells on a slide
- Examine under low power, then high power
- Stain iodine { FOR PLANT CELLS} , use onions or stain methylene blue { FOR ANIMAL CELLS}, use a cotton ball to rinse your mouth.
What are prokaryotic cell?
Prokaryotic cells don’t have a nucleus or membrane- enclosed organelles.
What are eukaryotic cells?
Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus and cell organelles, all of which are enclosed by membranes.
