1) Glucose and sodium are cotransported across the apical membrane by the SGLT transport protein
2) Glucose exits across the basolateral membrane by facilitative diffusion mediated by GLUTs and the energy for this is provided by the sodium gradient

This movement creates an osmotic imbalance which drives water absorption
