What is differentiation?
Process that cells change in order to become specialised
What is the function of the sperm cell (Specialised cell) and its adaptations?
Its job is to get the male DNA to the female DNA. Sperm cells have long tails to to help it swim to the egg
What is the function of the nerve cell (specialised cell) and its adaptations?
Its function is to carry electrical impulses from one part of the body to another. These cells are long to cover more distance and have branched connections to connect to other nerve cells
What is the function of the muscle cell (specialised cell) and its adaptations?
Its function is to contract quickly. These cells are long so that they have space to contract and contain lots of mitochondria to generate energy
What is the job of a root hair cell (specialised cell) and what are its adaptations?
Root hair cells absorb mineral ions and water. They stick out into the soils to absorb mineral ions and water
What are Xylem cells (specialised cells) functions?
They transport water and nutrients.
What is a phloem cells (specialised cell) function?
Responsible for the transport and distribution of sugars.
