Cell cycle Flashcards

1
Q

What are the 2 parts of a Cell cycle?

A
  1. Interphase (90%) - cell repair any damaged,re - enegizes, and prepares for division

Mitosis and Cytokinisis - The division of the cells into 2 indentical “daughter cells”

Q

Why do Cells Divide?

A
  1. Growth - Increase in the number of cells in your body
  2. Repair - Replaces any damaged, dead, or old cells.
  3. Reproduction - Cells make exact copies (Clones)

Q

What are the 3 Phases in interphase

A
  1. G1 - When the cells in your body are growing, new proteins and organelles are created.
  2. S phase - DNA is replicated (Chromatics)
  3. G2 - The cells prepare for division

Q

What is a prophase

A
  • The nucleus is going to break down
  • The centroids are located in each pole of the cell
    DNA is turned into Chromosomes

What is A metaphase

A
  • Chromosomes are lined up in the middle of the cell
  • Spindle fibers are attached to the centromere
