Cell cycle Flashcards
1
Q
What are the 2 parts of a Cell cycle?
A
- Interphase (90%) - cell repair any damaged,re - enegizes, and prepares for division
Mitosis and Cytokinisis - The division of the cells into 2 indentical “daughter cells”
2
Q
Why do Cells Divide?
A
- Growth - Increase in the number of cells in your body
- Repair - Replaces any damaged, dead, or old cells.
- Reproduction - Cells make exact copies (Clones)
3
Q
What are the 3 Phases in interphase
A
- G1 - When the cells in your body are growing, new proteins and organelles are created.
- S phase - DNA is replicated (Chromatics)
- G2 - The cells prepare for division

5
Q
What is a prophase
A
- The nucleus is going to break down
- The centroids are located in each pole of the cell
DNA is turned into Chromosomes

Q
What is A metaphase
A
- Chromosomes are lined up in the middle of the cell
- Spindle fibers are attached to the centromere
