Indications
A
- Suspected meningococcal septicemia.
- Sepsis, where cefazolin is not indicated, and:
- Older than 12 years.
- One of more clinical features are present for antibiotics.
- Time to hospital is greater than 30 mins.

A
Analphylaxis to cephalosporins

Actions
A
- A cephalosporin antibiotic when broad activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
- Inhibits productions of bacteria cell wall.

Administration & Dose
A
IV:
* Dissolve 2g into 4ml NaCl.
* Dilute to total of 10ml.
* Administer over 1-2 mins.
IM: (if IV access cannot be obtained.)
* Dissolve 2g into 4ml NaCl.
* Draw up 2.5ml to 2 syringes.
