Indications

A

Sepsis (where source is soft tissue / joint), and;
* Patient =>12 years
* Has 1 or more clinical features indicating antibiotics
* Time to hospital > 30 mins
* Compound fracture.
* Large contaminated wound.
* Following chest decompression.
* Following amputation.
* Cellulitis.

A

Known severe allergy to cephalosporins

Actions

A

First generation antibiotic with activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
Inhibits production of the bacteria cell wall.

Administration & Dose

A

IV :
* Dissolve 1g into 4ml NaCl.
* Dilute this to 10ml.
* Administer over 1 to 2 mins prefer running line.
