Cognitive load
The amount of mental effort required to process information
Implicit attitudes
Unconscious, involuntary evaluations or associations towards a person, group, or object
Just-world phenomenon
The thought that the world is fair and people get what is coming to them
Out-group homogeneity bias
All people of this group (not mine) are the same
In-group bias
The tendency to favor one’s own group
Ethnocentrism
Favoring your ethnic group over another
Belief perseverance
The tendency to maintain initial beliefs, even when presented with strong contradictory evidence
Confirmation bias
The tendency to seek out information that confirms one’s existing beliefs
Cognitive dissonance
The mental discomfort or tension an individual experiences when holding conflicting beliefs
