What was Dred Scott vs. Sandford?
Scott was a slave taken North sued for his freedom in the Supreme court. Ruling: Scott is a slave not a citizen and therefore cannot sue. Slaves are property and cannot be taken away from there owner
What was the Kansas Nebraska Act?
Kansas and Nebraska will vote on slavery. railroads will go through the Northern states

In 1859 John Brown attempts to cause a slave revolt and attacks the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry Virginia.
Who were the Border Ruffians?
Missourians that voted illegally on the Kansas Constitution.
What was Fort Sumter?
U.S. Fort in southern territory Confderates cut off supplies, when Lincoln sent unarmed supply ships and Confderates fired. This is the beginning of the war.
