Q

What is a causal pie

A

A visualisation of the component causes to make up a sufficent cause for a disease

diseases can have multiple sufficent causes

Q

What can causal pies be used for

A

Causal pies can be used to prevent a disease/ occurace and determine the best place to do this

Q

What are the 7 guidlines for determining causation

A
  1. biological plausibility - is there a mechanisum
  2. experimental evidence - is there a study to prove
  3. specificity - is the exposure only leading to outcome
  4. temporal sequence - does exposure come before outcome
  5. consistancy - is it inline with other studys
  6. dose response relationship - increase dose -> increase outcome/risk
  7. strength of association
