Caught In a Fire Situation Flashcards
What should you do if caught in a fire situation (in appliance or on foot)?
Seek refuge and protect yourself from radiant heat, in nearest structure or vehicle.
Burnt ground is the safest place to be. Don’t try to outrun the fire uphill. Transmit a priority distress message advising location and situation. Shield in a vehicle with engine running, lights on and cover yourself with a blanket. Close all doors, windows and vents. Activate cabin sprays and deploy fire curtains.
What should you do if caught in an aircraft fire bombing zone?
Move away from the fire line. Seek refuge in or under a vehicle. Keep clear of overhead branches. Crouch down in a clear area and hold helmet firmly down on head. Wash skin and eyes with cold water and seek medical advice if contaminated.
