A

Aircraft approaching known or suspected to be in danger of an accident.

Example: An aircraft experiencing engine failure during takeoff.

What is the definition of a crash on airport area / grounds?

A

Self-evident situation where aircraft is seen to crash or about to crash. Note yellow lines indicate taxiways. White lines indicate runways.

Example: An aircraft losing control during landing.

What are the actions for aircraft incidents at Melbourne Airport?

A

•​Respond to designated emergency access gate.
• Request all additional information from the communications centre.
• Use MMR channel 52 to communicate with Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF). (Note this does not replace the fireground channel nominated by VKN8 on turnout. This is a communications channel to speak to ARFF only)
• Obtain directions from the control tower or ASA Safety Officer (direct or via Communications Centre)
•​Forward command post is indicated by a single flashing blue light.
•​Exercise extreme caution when crossing runways / taxiways.
•​Liaise with airport / firefighting personnel on scene.

Note: These actions are crucial for effective response to aircraft incidents.
