How do we treat anterior uveitis?
Look for causative agent, if cannot find then symptomatic treatment:
Topical steroid, topical atropine, oral steroid
Before giving topical atropine to the eye, what must be checked?
Intraocular pressure (do not want to cause secondary glaucoma)
What type of pathogen is cryptococcus?
Fungal
Two common strain of cryptococcus?
C.Neoformans
C.Gattii
Common resovoir for cryptococcus?
Bird faeces
3 CS of cryptococcus in cats?
Nasal signs )sneezing, stertorous, discharge, nasal deformities), ulcerated lesions on face, trunk, limbs, oral cavity, lung signs (pneumonia, pleuritic) neurology (obtunded, tremor, hyperthermia, seizures, head tilt, circling, nystagmus, ataxia, paresis, blindness)
How do we diagnose cryptococcus?
Cytology or culture
Also histopathology or sample serum/CSF
Which drugs used to treat cryptococcus?
The Azores (fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole)
Amphotercin B
What is the feline demodex mite called?
Demodex catti or gatoi
