Naturalistic Observation
A
In-depth study of a phenomenon in its natural setting. Examples include:
- study of primate behaviour in the wild -Piaget’s study of the cognitive development of his own children
- Advantage: Naturalistic studies have a good generalizibilty
- Disadvantage- Observation can alter behaviour -observational technique cannot infer cause of behaviour

Survey technique asks questions of large numbers of persons to gain information on attitudes and behaviour
Two Approaches: -questionnaires -interviews
Disadvantages: -sampling issues -people may not respond accurately

A study designed to measure the degree of a relationship or correlation between two or more existing traits, behaviours or events
