Q

evaluate interactional synchrony

A

A: Brazelton: identifies trends in mother-baby interactional synchrony
-> m: examining babies play behaviour at 12 months through 3 stages (attention and buildup; turning away; recovery)
-> c: 3 phases of play demonstrated signs of interactional synchrony
A: Isabella and Belsky: hypothesised caregiver-baby pairs that develop secure attachments display more interactional synchrony than insecure- different interactional behaviours predicted attachment quality so it adds to theory being complex
A: still face experiment: mother doesn’t respond to baby- concludes it being two-way process
