Abrupt, severe anterior or back pain btw the scapulas.
Ripping/tearing pain
HTN, tachycardia
Acute aortic regurg may occur
Definitive test for aortic dissection
CT w/ contrast
or
TEE in good hands
Type 1 dissection
Occurs before L subclavian in arch
Surgical
Type 2 dissection
Occur after the L subclavian
May be medical or surgical
DIssection medical tx
IV Beta blocker (metoprolol)
Nipride (nitroprusside)
Admit to the unit
Burning abdominal pain
Peptic ulcer sx
Stabbing abd pain
kidney stones
Colicky pain types
Seconds: bowel
Minutes: kidney stone
tens of mins: Gallbladder
Scapula pain
gallbladder
