Cardiovascular Flashcards

1
Q

Differentiate b/w macrovascular & microvascular w/ e.g.

A
  • Macro: > 0.1mm in diameter e.g.muscular, elastic artery, muscular veins
  • Micro: exchange b/w vessels & tissues e.g. arterioles, capillaries, post-capillary venules

Q

List BV & their general function

A
  • arteries > withstand pressure
  • arterioles > distibute
  • capillaries > exchange

Q

What’s the vasa vasorum & vasa nervosum?

A
  • Vasorum: smaller BV in TM & TA of LARGE vessels > provide nutrients
  • Nervosum: BV (arteries) supply blood to nerves

Q

DIfferentiate elastic artery & muscular artery & arteriole from their obvious features

A
  • Elastic: Thick TI, thin TA, lots of elastic fibres in tunics,
  • Muscular: Thin TA, thick TA, prominent IEL & EEL, TM less elastic
  • Arteriole: Thin TI, TM, TA, no IEL & EEL
