A heterogeneous group of diseases of the myocardium associated with mechanical and/or electrical dysfunction that usually (but not invariably) exhibit inappropriate ventricular hypertrophy or dilatation due to a variety of etiologies that are frequently genetic

Definition of Peripartum CM
A
A form of dilated cardiomyopathy that presents with heart failure secondary to LV systolic dysfunction toward the end of pregnancy or in the months after delivery (the last trimester or up to 6 months post partum), in the absence of any other cause of heart failure.
