Antibiotic Therapy of Acute Rheumatic Fever

✨Oral Penicillin - 500mg BD for 10 days
Or
✨A single dose of Benzathine Penicillin 1.2 million IU I/M - Parenteral
Tab. Erythromycin - 250mg BD for 10 days can be given in the case of penicillin allergy.

Treatment of Arthritis/Arthralgia
A
Salicylates or NSAIDS (eg. Aspirin)
80 - 100 mg/kg/day in 4-5 divided doses for 3 weeks.

A
Corticosteroids (Prednisolone - 1-2 mg/kg/day; max 60 mg for 4-6 weeks, then taper 20-25 mg/week)

Haloperidol - 0.5mg/kg/day
Phenytoin
Carbamazepine
