Cardiac Muscle Flashcards
What are the main fuels for aerobic energy production??
Glycogen and Lipids (fats)
What is intrinsic control/regulation?
Self- regulating
Maintains own rhythm without direction
Provides OWN elective stimulus from SA Node
Our heart will continue to beat unless we die or any other have a cardiovascular disease. Will continue to beat in a normal fashion
What is Extrinsic regulation
External Stimuli which may increase heart rate.
Hormones are released to increase heart rate
- Beginning of exercise
- become nervous
- excited
- agitated
What is the AV node ?
Atrioventricular node controls the heart rate.
Acts as a electrical relay station controlling the electrical current sent by the SA node.
What is the SA NODE?
Sinoatrial node is the hearts natural pacemaker- located in the right atrium
Fires a stimulus across walls of both left and right atria causing a contraction.
What’s is the station that which transmits impulses from the AV Node to ventricles of the heart?
Av bundle
Bundle of his
Located in septum of the heart
What are the purkinje fibres?
Located inner ventricular walls of heart.
Balances the rhythm of heart
