Cardiac Glycoside Flashcards

1
Q

Why is digoxin give for Afib

A

Digoxin slows AV nodal conduction, resulting in a slower ventricular rate. It does not convert the rhythm directly. Slowing HR yields greater diastolic filling time, permitting improved myocardial oxygenation. Cardiac muscle with an improved supply–demand ratio may then return to sinus rhythm
