Cardiac Flashcards
Layers of blood vessels
Tunica adventita (outside)
Tunica media (middle)
Tunica intima (inner)
What is the equation for cardiac output
Stroke Volume X Heart Rate
What effects BP
Cardiac output, blood volume, peripheral resistance, blood viscosity
What is iron deficient, anemia?
Insufficient iron impedes, the creation of haemoglobin in the blood
What is B12 deficiency anemia?
A lack of vitamin B12 causes a lack of healthy RBC’s
Aplastic anemia
damage to stem cells inside your bone marrow, which is the sponge-like tissue within your bones. Many diseases and conditions can damage the stem cells in bone marrow. As a result, the bone marrow makes fewer red blood cells , white blood cells , and platelets
What is sickle cell anemia
An inherited disorder which leads to abnormal hemoglobin. This altered RBC’s can’t hold 02 and looks like a disk “stickle”
What is hemolytic anemia
Premature destruction of RBC’s
What is Hemphila
A disorder with a lack of clotting factor
What is polycythemia
A disorder where you body make to many RBC’s
What is disseminated intravascular coagulation
a condition that causes abnormal blood clotting throughout the body’s blood vessels.
What is leukemia
Leukemia is a type of cancer where the body makes too many abnormal white blood cells, which can crowd out healthy cells, leading to problems like anemia, bleeding, and a weakened immune system.
What is multiple myeloma
Cancer of the plasma cells
What are the two types of lymphoma
Hodgkins lymphoma
Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma
What is non Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Multiple node involvement scattered throughout the body with no organized pattern.
What is Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Initially involves a single lymph node
• Spreads systematically to multiple and then to organs via the lymphatics
• Stage I: single lymph node or area
• Stage Il- 2 or more regions on the same side of the diaphragm
• Stage III- Affects lymph nodes on both sides of the diaphragm
• Stage IV- involvement of bone, liver or lungs
Name the rates of the conduction system
SA node- 60-100
AV node- 40-60
Bundle of his - 40-45
Bundle branches - 40-45
Purkinje fibers - 20 and below
What is Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a condition where fatty deposits called plaques build up inside arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow
What are STEMI mimicers
BBB and pericarditis
