Hindsight bias
The tendency to believe that you could have predicted some outcome that you’ve learned about - when in fact you couldn’t have predicted it accurately
Reliability of tests and measures definition
Degree to which a measure gives consistent results on repeated occasions or the degree to which two measuring instruments yield the same or very similar results
Measurement Validity
The correlation between a measure and some outcome the measure is supposed to predict
Replication
The reproduction of research results by the original investigator or by someone else - if a result is valid, it should be possible to replicate it
Basic science
Concerned with trying to understand some phenomenon in its own right, rather than using a finding to solve a particular real-world problem
Applied science
Concerned with solving real world problems of importance
