A document that sets up a framework for how a country is to be governed.
When did Canada establish their constitution?
The BNA act was established in 1867 with John A. Mc Donald as first Prime Minister, while also being independent from Britain, but not completely.
What are the 2 levels of government?
Federal and Provincial
What were the 2 major changes to the original Constitution (1931)?
- Gave Canada the ability to make its own laws independently from Britain.
- Gave Canada the independence to make its own international agreements.
What was the new Constitution based on (1982)?
It was based on the original division of powers in the British North America Act.
What are some rights within the Rights and Freedoms for all Canadian citizens?
Fundamental freedoms, Domestic rights, Legal rights and Official Languages etc.
