Describe the political system
A
- A constitutional monarchy, where the monarch is Head of State
- Executive powers are directed by the cabinet (headed by the prime minister)
- The electoral system is referred to as a “first-past-the-post” system, but more accurately referred to as a single - member plurality system
- The candidate with the most votes in a riding wins a seat in The House of Commons and represents that riding as its member of parliament

A
- From kindergarten to grade 12
- Free to attend
- Employs only government certified teachers

Describe the healthcare system
A
- Publicly funded by the country’s 13 provinces and territories
- Healthcare system is called MediCare
- Each has its own insurance plan and each recieves cash assistance from the federal government on a per - capita basis

Describe Canada’s culture
A
- A mixture of British, French and American influences, all of which blend and sometimes compete in every aspect of cultural life (filmmaking, writing, cooking, playing sports etc.)

Describe the religion in the country
A
- The majority are Christians but also non religious, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists etc.
- Canada has freedom of religion
