- styles: passito, late harvest and sparkling
- aromas: almond, hazelnut, apple, dried fruits, banana, acacia, honey, toasty finish

- 85-100% Aglianico
- the “Barolo of the South”
- must be aged 36 months (12 in oak)
- Riserva must be aged minimum 4 years (18 in oak)
- Soils: clay, limestone, volcanic
- aromas: cherry, plum, berries, spices, violet, licorice and leather

- 15% maximum other reds
- Styles: rosato, rosso, rosso riserva, riserva
- Rosso must be aged 3 years (12 months in oak)
- Soils: clay mixed with limestone and sand, ancient volcanic soils, rich in potassium
- lighter body than the Taurasi DOCG
