Calvin Cylce Flashcards
1st thing that happens in the Calvin cycle
Co2 is diffused into the chloroplast stroma through stromata
2nd step is
the Rubisco attaches 1C from CO2 to Rubp (5C) to make a 6C molecule
what happens to the 6C molecule?
Its split into 2 (3Pg)
Both 3Pgs are reduced to g3p molecules. what does this consume?
ATP and NADPH from the light reaction
most of the g3p molecules are recycled back to what?
the RuBP which consumes ATP
some g3p molecules are used to make what?
glucose (3C each)
The 3C glucose molecules are then used to make
1 whole glucose phosphate (6C)
How many rounds of this cycle to make the 1 whole glucose phosphate?
6 rounds of 6CO2
what is the glucose phosphate then used to make?
Sucrose, starch, and cellulose
What are the sucrose starch and cellulose used for?
Sucrose (transport) Starch (storage), and Cellulose (building cell walls)
The last bits of g3p can be used for
regenerate RuBP
