Calculations stuff (TOPIC 9) Flashcards
Moles =
Mass / Mr or Ar
Ar =
(Mass number of isotope x abundance) + ( Mass number of isotope x abundance) / 100
1 mole =
6.02 x 10^23
Molecular formula =
Mr / Empirical formula
Percentage Yield =
Actual mass / theoretical mass x 100
Moles of gas =
Gas volume / 24
What is the molecular formula
The actual number of atoms of each element present in a molecule of a substance
What is the empirical formula
The simplest whole number ration of atoms of each element in a compound
What is theoretical yield?
The calculation you do to find the exact mass of a product
What is actual yield?
The actual mass of a product you get as you never get 100%
Gas Volume formula
Volume (dm ^3) = moles of gas x 24
Concentration formula?
Concentration (dm^3) = Number of moles / volume of solution
Unit for concentration?
Mol / dm^3
