A
- Increases cardiac contractile state (positive inotropic effect).
- May enhance ventricular automaticity.

Calcium: Indications
A
- Hypocalcemia
- Magnesium sulfate overdose
- Hyperkalemia
- Calcium channel blocker toxicity
- Adjunctive therapy in treatment of insect bites and stings.

Calcium: Adult Dose
A
2-4 mg/kg of 10% solution slowly IV over 5 minutes; may repeat in 10 minutes. (maximum: 1 gm dose)

A
20 mg/kg dose of 10% solution slow IV/ IO; may repeat in 10 minutes. (maximum: 1 gm dose)
