Invertebrate
An animal without a backbone is an invertebrate. An octopus and lobster are examples of invertebrates.
Characteristics of fish are:
Scales, cold blooded and breathe through gills
Characteristics of amphibians are:
Soft, smooth, moist skin, cold blooded, lay eggs
Characteristics of birds are:
Warm blooded, lungs to breathe, lay eggs
Characteristics of mammals are:
Warm blooded, use lungs to breathe, feed their young with milk produced by mom, and have live births
Characteristics of reptiles are:
Reptiles have scales, cold blooded and lay eggs

What is the dichotomous key?
The dichotomous key is a tool used to identify an unknown organism.

What is the definition of photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is the process of plants getting energy from the sun to make their own food.
What is vascular?
Vascular plants xylem and phloem, roots, stems and leaves. The tubes carry water, waste and food.
Vascular plants reproduce by spore (fern) or seed (any flower, tree)
What is non vascular?
Non vascular is plants that do not have tubes. Non vascular plants have: - no tubes - very thin cell walls - grow very low to the ground - do not have a true root system - reproduce with spores - live in shady damp areas
Describe mosses
Mosses are not vascular plants. They reproduce by tiny cells called spores. Mosses do not have seeds or flowers.
Describe ferns
Ferns are vascular plants. Like mosses they reproduce by forming spores. Like mosses ferns do not have seeds or flowers.
Describe conifers
Conifers are vascular plants that do not have flowers. They produce seeds in cones. Seeds may grow into new plants. Most conifers keep their special leaves or needles year round.
Describe flowering plants
Flowering plants are vascular. Flowering plants make seeds inside their fruits. The seeds may grow into new plants. Most of the plants you see everyday are flowering plants.
