8
Q

Describe the process of Thin-Layer Chromatography

A

Put the solvent into a chromatography tank to a depth of about 1 cm. Add a small amount of sample, taking care not to damage the powder on the plate. Let the solvent travel through the powder, and take the plate out before it reaches the top. Analyse the pattern of coloured spots, which is called a Chromatogram

16
Q

Name all the equipment used in gas chromatography

A
Detector
Oven
Carrier Gas Cylinder
Flow Meter
Vent
Computer
Metal Column
17
Q

What does the carrier gas cylinder do?

A

It supplies the mobile phase

18
Q

Where is the metal column located in during gas chromatography?

A

In the oven

19
Q

What does the detector do?

A

It sends a signal to a computer as each component leaves the column. The computer produces a Chromatogram
