Courage- To do right thing and speak up when concerned about poor practice
Communication- To listen carefully to service user , Motto should be “No decision about be should be made without me”
Compassion for service users and carers
Care- Ensuring care provided is right
Commitment for vision of service users
Competence in understanding service users needs, have expertise and knowledge to deliver effective care and support
How may policies and procedures affect people?
Policies, procedures, codes of practice and conduct have become more specific so that they can be understood by service users, carers, and professionals and are more rigorously enforced.
Inspection agencies have specific responsibility to monitor provision standards and require immediate action where failings are identified.
In 2013, when the Francis report was published against the Mid Staffordshire NHS trust, care quality and patient safety have been prioritised.
