children may take up a lot of time in an adults life, adults have jobs and responsibilities, adults can often get arthritis, children are reliable on an adult to pay for sessions or take them to games, children are given much more opportunities to participate in sport

china, russia and USA don’t play netball, certain cultures require you to cover up limiting what sports can be played, certain sports are more popular in an area/country e.g. rugby in Wales,

how does socio-economic group effect participation rates

A

some sports are more expensive then others, less common sports will force you to travel further to participate, equipment costs can be very expensive, limited facilities, if you have to travel further you will be spending more money

how does gender effect participation rates

A

less mens netball teams, less women rugby teams, mixed gender training may cause problems, male domination within sport, women’s football is much less popular, trans-gender athletes may struggle to feel accepted

A

costs more money due to equipment, less opportunities, disability could effect your ability to perform, coaches need to be able to risk asses the area, coaches may need different skills, confidence may be lacking
