29
Q

Who proved atoms existed and when?

A

John Dalton in 1800’s

30
Q

What did John Dalton believe atoms where?

A

Tiny spheres which could not be divided or split

31
Q

Who discovered Electrons and when?

A

JJ Thompson in 1897

32
Q

What model of the atom did JJ Thompson propose?

A

Plum pudding model

33
Q

What is the plum pudding model?

A

34
Q

Who discovered the nucleus and when?

A

Geiger and Marsden in 1913

35
Q

How was the nucleus discovered and the nuclear model created?

A

Positive Alpha particles where fired at thin gold foil. Most particles went straight through the gold atoms suggesting that atoms are mostly empty space. Some where deflected suggesting that there was a positive centre to the atom. Some of the particles bounced straight back suggesting that the centre of the atom contains a great deal of mass.

36
Q

What is the nuclear model?

A

in the nuclear model the atom is mostly empty space with electrons orbiting the nucleus which contains positive protons.

37
Q

Who created the nuclear model/

A

Rutherford

38
Q

Who revised the Nuclear model?

A

Bohr

39
Q

What is the Bohr Nuclear Model
