An unethical ticketing practice in which clients buy two round- trip discount tickets for less than the cost of one round-trip ticket at full fare, thus circumventing certain restrictions on the discount tickets by rearranging departures and returns.
Card Mills
Organization that sells travel agent identification cards to the public, under the guise of bona fide employment in the travel industry, promoting access to travel industry discounts.
CCRA Travel Commerce Network
A network that facilitates commerce between travel professionals and suppliers.
Double Booking
An unethical reservations practice of booking two reservations for an individual at the same time; also known as trip stacking.
Errors and Omission Insurance
A type of insurance that can protect travel consultants and their businesses in cases where clients feel a travel advisor has misrepresented a product or service or has been negligent in planning the client’s travel; it provides coverage for mistakes that happen.

Federal Trade Commission
Agency of the U.S. government whose mission is the enforcement of civil U.S. antitrust law and the promotion of consumer protection.
Ghost booking
Taking advantage of a flexible cancellation policy to book a trip that clients have no intention of actually taking.
GDS - Global Distribution System
An electronic system that links distributors and suppliers to a central database and is set up for making reservations.
Hidden City Ticketing
An unethical ticketing practice in which clients buy a less expensive ticket with a connection then end their trip at the connecting city.
IATA- International Air Transport Association
An association of airlines whose goal is to create stability in international aviation.
International Airlines Travel Agent Network IATAN
An IATA subsidiary that uses a screening program to appoint U.S. travel agencies to sell tickets for its member international airlines serving the U.S.; it sponsors the IATAN ID card.
