Why was printing so important in China?
A lot of people wanted to read and write and the writing of books took a very long period of time.
What was the first version of the printer?
The first version was that one page of the book would be carved into a piece of the block so that they could make multiple copies but they could only do this with one specific page.
What was the second version of the printer?
Since it also took a lot of time to carve a block and since it only worked for one page they decide to make blocks with different symbols so that to make a sentence they fasten the symbols needed together and print it. This could work for multiple writings.
What were the effects of Buddhism in the building?
They would build shrines called stupas over the remains of their saints. They had no rooms and worshipers only moved around the stupa meditating and praying. In China, they were built higher so they made the pagodas. (A typical building in Chinese Architecture)
