Describe the pathogenesis of bronchiectasis

A

Severe destructive inflammation of airways (due to severe or recurrent infection +/- obstruction) results in loss of surrounding elastic tissue
Muscle exceeds contraction of fibrous tissue
Clearance of organisms and fluid is impaired
