bronchi, lungs, pleura and diaphragm Flashcards
mediastinum
thick midline
extends from the sternum anteriorly to thoracic vertebrae
and from the superior thoracic aperture to inferior thoracic aperture
what lines the pleural caviyty
mesothelial membrane
this is the pleura
layer lining the pleural cavity
parietal pleura
layer on the lungs
visceral pleura
costo-diaphramic recess
between the costal pleura and diaphramagmatic pleura
in inspiration it becomes larger
structures in the lung root (hilum)
main bronchus terminal branch of the trachea one pulmonary artery 2 pul veins bronchial arteries lymph nodes draining the pulmonary plexus and lung of autonomic nerves
how are the lungs divided
L lung divided into upper and lower lobes by oblique fissure
R lung had oblique fissure and horizontal fissure - divide into upper middle and lower lobes
what does the antior border of the lung do
separate the costal from mediastinal surface
what does the lower border do
separate the costal and diaphragmatic surfaces
