Location
Frontal lobe, superior to the sylvian fissure.
Broca’s area is situated in the left hemisphere in close proximity to the primary motor cortex.

Auditory Comprehension
Relatively well preserved for everyday conversation.
Likely breakdown at more complex level of language e.g. grammatical structures etc.
Reading Comprehension
Slighlty worse than auditory comprehension but also well preserved.

Written expression
Content words primarily. Omission of words and letters is common.

Hemiparesis- adds to problems with writing
Insight is usually present- leads to being uoset/frustrated/depressed by difficulties and failures in tasks.
Generally able to retain information learned and strategies taught within therapy.
