Fluoroquinoles are a new group (derivates of quinolones) and they are so-called “reserve ABs” so they aren’t used in veterinary medicine primarily because they are reserved for human use. What are these drugs of are used for in animals?

What do they inhibit?

What do they cause to young animals? Why shouldn’t you give them to young animals?

What are the other side effects?

What other side-effects do they have.

Used for Enterobacteria, e. Coli and salmonella (stomach stuff)

DNA synthesis (different from other ABs)

Bubble like cartilage and erosion!!! Don’t give to young animals

, vomiting, quinolones can induce blindness in cats. Use only as a last resource.

Don’t give with or food or stomach acid inhibitors and antepsin

There are two forms: systemic and enterical (designated stay in the stomach)

Dry eyes

Other side effects: urinary tract disorder and allergic reactions. Most sensitive dogs are Doderman pincher.

Cats: Salivation
