Start Brief
“This will be an APU start. We’ll start the #2 Engine first, then #1. We’ll both time the Starts. I’ll communicate with the lineman on service interphone. If we have an emergency, contact ground with our parking spot xxx and side number xxx. Any questions?”
Taxi Brief
“We will plan to taxi to RWY 28, via left turn out of the parking sport, then a right turn on Alpha. There are no applicable NOTAMS and the only known hazards are the P-3’s and ground support equipment. Keep me cleared on the right during all taxi operations.”
Takeoff Brief
“On the EFIS control panel the BARO mins are set to 1020 feet, FPV is on, altimeter setting to 29.92in, MAP mode in 5 mile scale and TERR selected. The MCP is set to course 220, V2 153, and 285 for runway heading, initial altitude is set to 2000 feet, both flight directors are on, I’m the master. This will be a takeoff from RWY 28, Flaps 5, and 24k derate (point and confirm TO-2 indicated on the upper DU). Call “takeoff thrust set” with 98.6% N1 (point and confirm N1 rating set on engine N1 gauge). V1 is 143, VR 148 V2 153. If any malfuncion occurs prior to 80 knots I will abort the takeoff. Between 80 knots and V1 I will abort the takeoff for an engine failure, any fire indication, smoke in the flight deck, a controllabity issue or any other malfunction that will prevent the aircraft from flying. For any other malfuncion or any malfunction after V1 I will continue the takeoff, handle the malfunction IAW NATOPS and climb to the Accelartion Height of 1080 feet. Takeoff Gross Weight is 153,700 lbs. In the event of an immediate landing we can return to Cecil or Jax International. Our one engine inoperative lading distance is 6000 feet. The runway is dry at both airports and the weather is not a factor. MSA is 2100 feet for the tensiltown towers located to the East. Ensure you advice me what radio you are talking on and change my COMM panel as needed. Are there any questions?”
Touch and Go Brief
“This will be a flaps 30 touch and go. The speed brake is down detent and the autobrakes are off. After touchdown, I will stand the Thrust Levers up. Reset my flaps and trim, verify it is in the green band and call “GO.” I’ll set a minimum of 85% N1 and will/will not pus TOGA. Call ROTATE at a minimum of VREF. Any questions?”
