Briefings Flashcards
Low visibility takeoff briefing
- 3 certifieds, 2 requireds, 1 takeoff alternate
- aircraft, pilots, and runway certified
- required visibility (RVR 1200 for FO), required lighting (runway centreline lights OR high-intensity runway lights OR centreline markings)
- takeoff alternate briefed
- plus runway is definitely the runway you’re supposed to be on.
Rejected takeoff
[CA1] In the event of an abnormality prior to V1, I will call continue or reject. If the decision is to reject, I will:
– select thrust levers to idle
– observe or apply max braking
– select maximum reverse thrust. [FO1]
[FO1] I will monitor brake response, call “reverse green”or “no reverse one or two” and monitor indications. I will call 70 kts and advise ATC.
[CA2] I will apply maximum reverse thrust and maximum braking until stopped, ensure forward idle thrust, set the parking brake if required, and call ECAM actions. [FO2]
[FO2] I will accomplish the ECAM actions.
[CA3] I will assess the situation.
If an evacuation is not required, I will make a PA: “remain seated, remain seated”
if contact with the in charge flight attendant is required I will say “in charge flight attendant report to the flight deck.”
If an evacuation is required, I will call “stop ECAM; checklist – passenger evacuation”. [FO3]
[FO3] I will read the appropriate checklist.
Engine fire or failure after V1
[CA1] In the event of an engine fire or failure after V1, I will continue the take off and rotate normally at Vr to 12 1/2°. When airborne, follow SRS commands. [FO1]
[FO1] I will call “engine fire” or “power loss” and cancel the master warning. When established in a definite climb I will call “positive rate”.
[CA2]I will call “gear up”. [FO2]
[FO2] I will select the gear up and disarm the spoilers.
[CA3] I will trim the aircraft and engage the autopilot above 100 feet. When stabilized in a climb above 400 feet, minimum of V2, I will select “heading pull” [if required] and call “ECAM actions”. [FO3]
[FO3] I will accomplish the initial ECAM actions and advise “fire out”, “fire not out” or “engine relight consider”.
[CA4] I will call “stop ECAM”. At engine out acceleration altitude, I will accelerate in level flight and call for flat and slat retraction on schedule.
As green dot speed, I will select altitude pull, speed pull, and maximum continuous thrust, and call “continue ECAM”. [FO4]
[FO4] I will continue the ECAM actions.
Rapid depressurization drill
[CA1] I will assume control with the AP on and call “rapid depressurization drill”. I will don mask and call “Capt. on oxygen”. [FO1]
[FO1] I will don mask and call “first officer on oxygen”.
[CA2] I will select the seatbelt switch on and call “ECAM actions” [FO2]
[FO2] I will accomplish ECAM actions.
[CA3] I will advise ATC. If explosive decompr, I will call “emergency descent”. Otherwise…
I will make a PA: “Attention, flight attendants: secure the cabin; passengers: take your seats”. [FO3]
[FO3] I will assess pressurization and call “cabin okay” or “cabin uncontrollable”.
[CA4] If cabin is uncontrollable, I will call “emergency descent”. I will:
– set ALT SEL to the appropriate altitude and PULL [set lowest safe altitude or 10,000 feet, whichever is lower].
– PULL HDG SEL [turn if required]
– PULL SPD SEL [ensure SPD mode selected]
– ensure IDLE THR
–extend speed brakes to FULL. [FO4]
[FO4] I will complete the ECAM silently and advise of any omitted items or pertinent ECAM messages.
I will confirm ATC has been notified and set the transponder to 7700.
If cabin altitude exceeds 14,000 feet, I will press the MASK MAN ON pushbutton for more than two seconds.
Go around
[PF] “I will call “go around, flaps”, apply TOGA thrust, and rotate to a go around attitude
[PM] “I will retract the flaps one step. When established in a definite climb, I will call “positive rate”
[PF] “I will call “gear up” and engage AP if manually flying.”
[PM] “I will select the gear up and disarm the spoilers.”
[PF] “When above 400 feet, minimum Vapp, I will select HDG PULL or HDG PUSH as required. At thrust reduction/acceleration altitude, I will select CLB THR and monitor Target Speed increases to GREEN DOT, and call for flap and slat retraction on schedule.”
[PM] “I will make the flap selections as required and advise ATC.”
