What are the common examination findings?
On inspection - May have inversion, dimpling, pagets, peau d’orange.
May have palpable lymphadenopathy
Painless lump tethered to breast
What are the investigations?
By the bed - History, obs
Triple Assessment:
- History and exam
- US if under 35 mammogram if over
- FNAB
What is the treatment?
Conservative -Explain what it is and offer support
Mixture or resection, chemo, biological and radiotherapy depending on status
What are risk factors?
Family History
COCP or other oestrogen/progesterone contraceptives
BRACA gene
Alcohol, smoking
If oestrogen positive then anything with high oestrogen state eg early menarche, no kids, late menopause, obesity
When is screening offfered?
50 if no risk factors, earlier if FH
Every 3 years
