What is a fibroadenoma?

A

Known as the ‘breast mouse’ it is the most common benign breast lump, highly mobile, discrete and non-tender lump caused by benign overgrowth of a breast lobule.

A

Fluid filled lump in the breast that can e painful, often associated with fibrocystic disease. Can be aspirated to remove lump and examine contents.

A

Condition where breast inflammation, swelling and lumpiness is associated with the menstrual cycle, women experience cyclical pain and swelling. Can also be a side effect of some contraception.

A

What is lactational mastitis?

A

Painful inflammation of the breast caused by bacterial infection of mammary ducts, may develop into a breast abscess. Associated with breastfeeding but there is not need to stop breastfeeding - it will actually help ease condition along with breast massage. Oral antibiotics needed and aspiration if an abscess develops.
