what is the difference btwn gant charts and network diagrams?
gant chart focuses on progress while network diagrams focuses on sequence and dependencies
what is float time in a gantt chart?
float time means there is slack time and allows for rooms for delays until the other activity is finished. (for all the predecessors)
does a critical path method have any float time?
no. it cannot afford to have slack time.
what is free float in CPM?
amount of time an activity can be delayed without delaying completion of the project
what is the early start?
the early start is the maximum early finishes of ALL preceding activities
what is the latest finish?
the latest finish is the minimum late start of all the following activities
what is the difference between the total float and the free float?
the difference is total float is the total amount of time an activity can be delayed without affecting the TOTAL project. the free float is the amount of time that the activity can be delayed without delaying the start time of the successor activity
what is resource leveling?
having to reallocate resources to finish a task or catch up to your schedule.
what is schedule crashing?
having to analyze cost and schedule trade offs to determine how to obtain the best compression for the least incremental cost
does a critical path only have one path?
no it can have more than 1
when calculating the OSHA recordable incidence rate, what injuries are not taken into account?
minor injuries treated with a first aid kit are not reportable
