Pollination
The process by which pollen from one plant lands on another.
This is the beginning of making seeds.
Germanition
This is the beginning of growth a plant from a seed. It
begins when water is taken in and the seed coat cracks open.
Cotyledons
the first leaf-like objects to come out of the seed. They are
sometimes called seed leaves.
Radicle
The first root like object to come out of a seed.
Seed coat
Protective covering around the seed
Root hairs
Fuzzy objects that grow underground and absorb water and minerals.
Hypocotyl
A hook like first stem that grows upward from the seed.
Node
The place where the leaves are attached to the stem.
Flower
The part of the plant where seeds develop.
Stem
The part of the plant that grows above ground and holds leaves and flowers.
Bud
Undeveloped flower protected by sepals.
Leaf
The part of the plant where photosynthesis and transpiration takes place.
Root
Grows underground, anchors the plant, absorbs water and minerals.
