Greater horn of hyoid bone
Third arch
It contains cartilage called Meckle’s cartilage.
First or Mandibular arch
Its cartilage is called reichert’s cartilage
Second arch
is due to failure of fusion of the maxillary process and the medial nasal process.
Hare lip, cleft upper lip
due to excessive fusion between the maxillary and mandibular processes.
Microstomia
it is a rare anomaly. It is due to failure of fusion of the 2 mandibular
processes.
Median cleft lower lip
: defect in the face extends from the medial angle of eye to upper lip. It is
due to failure of fusion of lateral nasal process and maxillary process. The nasolacrimal duct
is exposed to the surface.
Oblique facial cleft
